This weekend...

was awesome! Lots and lots of cycling, and took a bunch of pics with the new cams in beautiful weather/lighting - really excited to see how the shots develop. Here's a few stills from a movie capture my friend took as I was keo spinning along the boardwalk in Santa Monica:

Have a great week!

Venice 2.26.09

Cruising along the boardwalk with my friend Galen during lunch, here are a few images I shot from my bike as we made our way to Subway.

almost killed my cam

Went for a ride during lunch today and attempted to stall this bench by the beach. Front wheel comes too close for comfort...

Stay tuned, I feel the lunch-break hussle comin' on.

Venice Custom Bicycle Show

I spent the better part of Sunday at Venice Beach checking out the bike show. The majority of the booths were for custom chopper bicycle garages but the LAB had a spot between the concert stage and the bmx/skate park, prime real estate for people watching. I took tons of chopper photos but the batman inspired bike was my favorite...

low riders

And then this girl showed up - purple and white from head to toe she was perfectly matching the custom Bare Knuckle the LAB had on display.

bicycle beer run

We ran out of beers during our 4th of July BBQ, while unfortunate, made for a perfect opportunity to debut the GoPro helmet camera I've been meaning to test since I got it last Christmas. There's a couple of video settings I'll tweak on the next go around but I'm really happy with the results. Check it out...

the liquor store's lime green wall

CRANK MOB stopped at a liquor store along Venice Blvd. It was around 3am when I took these pictures. The 'mob' had dwindled by this point of the ride but there was still a hundred or so cyclists behind me binge-drinking, lighting fire works and riding bikes (most prevalent from left to right).

The wall was lime green, a killer offset to purple and also rather appropriate given it was early Easter morning when I took these...

fixedtography

A few of my favorite pics taken by my friend Aaron.

Even our shadows are drawn to fixies.

My first fixie

I got the fixed gear bug and I got it bad. Say hello to Morgan, my first fixie. With the help of this website and Bike Attack, I successfully converted a Nishiki 10spd to a fixed gear. The joy of riding fixed is something I cannot begin to transcribe but I will say that I have partaken in my fair share of exhilarating experiences and among these... riding fixed in West LA (especially at night) is right up there.

Blew my tire in 5 days. Electric blue replacement ftw!
